13th High-Level Forum on Korea-Caribbean Partnership
The 13th High-Level Forum on Korea-Caribbean Partnership was held in Seoul, Republic of Korea on 10, October 2023.
Grenada was represented by Honourable Andy Williams, Minister for Mobilisation, Implementation, and Transformation, alongside other CARICOM and Korean colleagues and contemporaries under the theme “Korea-Caribbean Partnership for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth.”
The Forum provided an avenue for constructive dialogue and exchange of views on substantive issues such as climate change and natural disaster response, economy and commerce and development.
In his presentation on Climate Change and Disaster Response, Minister Williams shared on the global climate context, including the Caribbean and Small Island States Response, and further highlighted the framework and elements for cooperation on this existential issue.
During the three-day visit, Minister Williams and representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs took advantage of networking opportunities to discuss tailored CARICOM, and Grenada specific proposals for cooperation in ICT, agriculture, tourism, infrastructure, energy, and the environment.
Bilateral discussions were also held with the Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Minister for Trade, Industry, and Energy, where further significant discussions were held on investment opportunities, and knowledge sharing initiatives in ICT, notably AI and coding, and scholarship opportunities.
