Carnival Safety – A Must!
SAMS & Summer Crew Together Again.
St. Augustine’s Medical Services (SAMS), Sundance Promotions and Summer Crew partner, once again renewed their partnership for Spice Mas Carnival 2017.
The SAMS medical team, who attended a number of the carnival themed events, were also present to follow the bands along the display route for Pretty Mas on Carnival Monday and Tuesday.
Dr Amechi, owner and Resident Physician at SAMS, commented on their continued support of Summer Crew and Grenada’s culture, and their commitment to emphasising health safety throughout the island. “At SAMS we continuously express the need for healthy lifestyles and safety at all times. Our partnership with Summer Crew will ensure masqueraders receive timely treatment in the event of injury, or if they suffer any mid to severe symptoms of over exertion and dehydration, which are very common during the festive season” he said. “We commend Bobby and the Summer Crew team for placing such heavy emphasis on safety at their events. This supports the Grenada’s Spice Mas carnival experience as a whole, as organisers seek to bring the events closer and closer to international standards, in all aspects.” he added.
Mr. Bobby Steele of Sundance Promotions & Summer Crew, expressed his pleasure and that of his team with the partnership, “ We see SAMS as an integral part of the team for our events. Their presence is just as important as ensuring that our island visitors and resident patrons have a great time. Having a medical team present only enhances large events like those taking place during Spice Mas Carnival and place Grenada firmly in line with international event standards”; he stated.
St. Augustine’s Medical Services hopes that all had a safe and healthy Carnival season and that all participants and spectators took care to keep hydrated throughout the festivities, ensuring a safe and fun-filled carnival.
