CHINA AID Make Face Mask Donation to SAMS
On Saturday, March 28th 2020 The CHINA AID Low Income Housing Project Phase II (2) visited St. Augustine’s Medical Services (SAMS) to make a donation of 300 surgical masks.
During the course of the housing project SAMS has treated a large volume of the company’s construction workers for a variety of illnesses; from medical ailments to major trauma(s), sustained on the job. The necessary interaction between both entities has resulted in the growth of an excellent relationship. Based upon this, with the onset of COVID-19, SAMS were able to approach CHINA AID with a request for the acquisition of masks for the protection of patients attending the facility. The result was the donation of the 300 masks, made by the General Secretary to the Project- XU Jianfeng and Administrative Assistant- WEI Rui.
Dr. Lutz Amechi, General Practitioner and part-owner of SAMS stated; “we are eternally grateful for this donation. This clearly demonstrates the kind and generous spirit of our Chinese benefactors, who are working so diligently to assist Grenada with the construction of low-income housing. It is another evidence that they want to work with us for the greater good,’ he concluded.
Current regulations require that EVERY patient or visitor entering the medical facility at SAMS must wear a mask; a position which is fully endorsed by the Grenada Medical Association. The CHINA AID Low-Income Housing Project Phase II, taking place in St. David, have also donated masks to the St. David Police Station and plan to donate further masks to the St. David Health Centre in the week ahead.
