Full Calendar of Activities for Rainbow City 2022
St. Andrew, Grenada, July 20, 2022- After hosting virtual festivities for the past two years because of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the big parish welcomes visitors and locals to Rainbow City Festival & Emancipation Celebrations, with a full calendar of events. The 2022 Festival is celebrated under the theme, “Resilient People Overcoming Challenges,” from July 29th – August 1st.
With plans in motion for this year’s festivities, president of the St. Andrew’s Development Organisation (SADO), the organization responsible for the festival, Royan Charles, spoke of the increase in activities and its correlation to improve working relationships with stakeholders.
“People are more aware of the work that we do and our contribution to our community; it is because of this, we were able to engage our stakeholders which resulted in greater collaborations this year. Consequently, we were able to add activities for everyone,” Charles said.
“Our festival offers a platform for our locals to showcase their arts, talents, skills and abilities, as well as the marketing and promotion of small businesses, agro-processors and entrepreneurs.
We anticipate good support for these individuals and hope that they may be able to generate some much needed revenue as many of them were impacted in one way or the other by the pandemic,” Charles added.
Activities for this year include, Pearls Saraka, the Emancipation Culinary Tour, Exhibition, Kids Village, Emancipation March, Cultural Explosion and more. The Rainbow City festival was first held in 1986 when parishioners began to pull their resources together and organized the event as a means of boosting tourism and economic activities following the relocation of the Airport from Pearls to Point Salines.
The St.Andrew Development Organisation (SADO) looks forward to the support of the general public in making the activities successful.
