GFA Assists Grassroots Programmes
23rd February, 2017-St. George’s– As the Grenada Football Association focuses its energy on youth development, a number of grassroots programmes are being given assistance to enhance their programme delivery.Already, two coaches running grassroots programmes have received equipment including balls, pumps and ball bags.
One of the programmes receiving assistance today was OK (Only Kids) Soccer Academy run by Gerard ‘Bubbles’ Alexander in Mt. Moritz. Presently, he says he has close to thirty children whom he works with on a weekly basis.
Speaking of the assistance, Alexander said, “This gesture is timely and a blessing considering the cost of equipment presently.”
The other coach receiving assistance today was Shaka Logie. He heads the Rising Star Football Academy in Chantimelle which is in its first year. Thus far, he has close to thirty children registered and he says interest is keen. He said, “We need equipment if we want to properly develop the talent of our young people. We thank the GFA for this gesture.”
The GFA is also hoping to assist a number of schools and football clubs as part of its National Youth League programme for 2017.
