GFA Salutes National U15 Girls Team and Pledges Continued Opportunities for Women’s Football
23rd August, 2022: St. George’s: The Grenada Football Association (GFA) salutes the National U15 Girls team and coaching staff for their stellar performance in the Jewels of the Caribbean U15 Girls Tournament. The team placed second in the competition only via a goal difference of one (1) after both Grenada and St.Vincent and the Grenadines finished on seven (7) points from winning two (2) matches, drawing one (1) and losing one (1).
The GFA also applauded Abigail Williams (Mac Donald College) who captured the ‘Best Midfielder title’ in the tournament.
The girls returned home on Monday morning and were greeted at the Maurice Bishop International Airport by GFA 2nd Vice President Mr.Randy Campbell and Women’s Football Representative Ms. Cazirah Thomas.
Addressing the team and coaching staff, Mr. Campbell said, “We will do our best to keep providing the avenues for you to keep training so that when the next tournament arises, you will be at another level. You have set a standard for young ladies in Grenada and they will be encouraged to come out and play football.”
He further stated, “Thank you for what you have done, for yourselves, for your family, for your nation, you have made us all proud.”
Speaking of the success of her team, Head Coach Rockel Hood said, “It’s proud moments for us and Grenada. Team work was important, we had a plan, we executed and came out victorious.”
