Grenada Cabinet Appoints Two-man Committee to Probe Pan Fiasco
The Grenada cabinet has appointed a two man committee to find out what led to the cancellation of the National Panorama Championships this year.
Educator Colin Dowe and Economist Byron Campbell form an independent two man body to probe the circumstances that forced the event not to take place.
Dowe is the first Chairman of the Spicemas Corporation, the body charged with running carnival, and along with Campbell, will seek to uncover the facts and present their findings within a month.
“Cabinet has appointed an independent two-man committee of Mr. Byron Campbell and Mr. Colin Dowe—two very well-known Grenadian cultural stalwarts—to investigate the events that led to the cancellation of panorama,” Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell announced during an address to the nation Tuesday night.
“They will be expected to present the findings within one month, so that the appropriate mechanisms can be put in place to prevent any similar occurrences in the future”.
Panorama, a fixture of Grenada’s carnival celebrations, was cancelled amid charges and counter charges between Spice Mas Corporation and the Steelband Association.
