Grenada CNL 2022 Squad Announced
St. George’s: 24th May, 2022: Grenada has named its senior men’s squad to contest League A of the Concacaf Nations League with a balanced mix of youth and experience.
The 26 man squad which will face the USA and El Salvador consists of 42% homegrown players with the rest consisting of players who are internationally based.
54% of players are below the age of 25, balanced nicely with the more experienced squad members who have multiple international caps and tournament experience.
Among the squad list is Jamal Ray Charles who had a stellar run in the 2019 Nations League scoring 6 goals as well as veteran goal keeper Jason Belfon and lone goal scorer in the 2021 Gold Cup Romar Frank.
As part of Grenada’s 2022 senior men’s national team program the Spiceboyz have been able to secure experiences to continue to build the culture and playing philosophy in addition to having strong opposition within matches during the FIFA windows in 2022.
Looking ahead to the Nations League campaign, Senior Men’s Head Coach Michael Findlay said, “We look forward to bringing the group together after our recent matches in Europe so we may continue our efforts in building our national team program for the future. The Concacaf Nations League provides us with tremendous opportunity to compete against top 10 countries in the region including Qatar World Cup 2022 bound USA which is where we aspire to be.”
Speaking to challenges facing the squad Findlay said, “Unfortunately we will be missing some players due to injury, club commitments and personal and travel circumstances but this also provides the opportunity to once again expand the selection process to evaluate the depth of our squad currently.”

President of the Grenada Football Association (GFA) Cheney Joseph sent best wishes to the team saying, “You have our full support and that of the fans at home. Grenada is rich with talent and I expect this team to do well as we continue to invest in our programmes.”
In this Concacaf Nations League campaign, Grenada will first play El Salvador on June 4 away then play them in the return leg at home at the Kirani James Athletics Stadium on Tuesday June 7. The team faces the USA on June 10 with the return leg carded for 24th March, 2023 at home.
