Grenada PM Wants Financial Sector to Help Young People With ICT Ideas
ST. GEORGE, GRENADA, SEPT 26. 2017, GIS: – Prime Minister Dr. Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell is appealing to financial institutions to create a window of opportunity for young people with ideas in ICT, but who lack the resources to bring these ideas to reality.
During a recent Youth Budget Consultation, Dr. Mitchell pointed to the importance of ICT for youths, stressing on the need to provide the necessary support system that can help them to succeed in this area.
“And we’ve been admonishing the banking system and the financial sector to become more innovative in their financing and to recognize that a serious area for expansion of economic activity must be in a technological area,” said Prime Minister Mitchell.
“Therefore they must have a special window for people interested, with excellent ideas but lack the resources to put them into practice”.
The consultation was held under the theme -”Solutions for the youth, from the youth”
He appealed to those in attendance to give ideas on how the Agriculture Sector and Imani Programme can be improved, and to give their take on the vexing issue of sexual abuse.
“I might be talking to some of you here; who passed through, are going through some of that. That’s an ill of almost every society today, the Prime Minister said.
“I’m sure you may have views on this and some ideas that can aid in what already is being initiated to deal with this fundamental issue facing our society”.
