Hillsborough Government Retains 100% Pass Rate
The staff and students of Hillsborough Government School on the sister isle of Carriacou are once again the recipients of praises as the news of their 100% pass rate in the 2018 CPEA flooded the airwaves.
11-year-old Deonee Wilson, who is no stranger to the academic pinnacle, placed first for the sister isle with 467 points, and 16th overall, and he will be attending the Presentation Brother’s College on mainland Grenada, when school commences in September.
Wilsons, Class Teacher, Mr Clint Alexander, gave brief remarks to the media on his students’ performance. According to him, “the struggle was real,” but he was elated that the children performed well and were successful.
He went on to say that preparations were undoubtedly a team effort with assistance from the Principal and other teachers. Although there were some students who were noticeably struggling prior to the Assessment, Mr Alexander noted that they were still able to be successful, and, “that is my greatest joy.”
Speaking a bit about Deonee, Mr Alexander described him as a “well-rounded student,” who has always been performing exceptionally well ever since. As a result of young Deonee’s consecutive thrives, he has represented his school on numerous occasions in different events including the Mt Pleasant and Grand Bay Michelle Coy Primary School Reading Competition last year.
Deonee’s mother, Ms Eugenia Gibson, said she was actually looking forward to the results and expecting her son to do very well. According to her, even in Deonee’s younger days, he was always known to be in his books, looking for information, when other children would be playing.
