Hon. Kerryne James Attends COP 27 in Sharm El Sheik, Egypt
St. George: November 15, 2022: The 27th Meeting of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is ongoing at Sharm El Sheik, Egypt from November 6-18, 2022.
Hon. Kerryne James is attending the Ministerial Sessions from 14-18th November, 2022. The minister delivered a national statement on 15th November 2022 and made a strong call for climate actions, the need to channel finance in general to support concrete development proposals and financing for loss and damage. The Minister also expressed concerns about the limited implementation of the Glasgow Climate Pact.
COP 27 focuses on implementation and key topics are Climate finance and Accessing Climate Finance. This conference is building on the success of previous sessions and aims at scaling up ambitions to urgently address the global challenge of climate change.
The Minister is leading a delegation from Grenada comprising of Mrs. Terah Antoine, Energy Officer; Ms. Rae Thomas, Crown Counsel, Dr. Spencer Thomas and Leon Charles, Climate Negotiators; Ms. Jovana Hoschtialek, Youth Representative and Mr. Jerry Enoe, Board Member of GSWMA. Minister James will participate in bilateral meetings with various government officials and will return to Grenada on November 19, 2022.
