Local Radio Host Donates 10,000 Gloves to Hospital
Local radio talk show host Kem Jones provided a donation of 10,000 disposable gloves to the General Hospital on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, after receiving many complaints from persons regarding the shortage of gloves at the institution.
In an interview with Jones, he told the Barnacle News team that this gesture was a humanitarian, and he believes in helping humanity in any way he can, “and in this case, I used the power of the radio to do just that.”
Through the generosity of many Grenadians, Jones was able to purchase the boxes of gloves from Bryden & Minors Pharmaceutical Division at a cost of approximately $2,300.
Jones reiterated that this initiative is in no way politically motivated. “I am of the view that humanity has no face, no politics, no religion, no race, no creed, hence the reason we need to reach out and touch those in need or help institutions in need.”
“We believe in highlighting the problems within the healthcare sector and other areas, but also finding solutions to them, [and] we will continue supporting humanity in any way that we can. Grenada needs more people to help humanity,” Jones added.
Receiving the boxes of disposable gloves on behalf of the General Hospital was Director, Ms. Esther Fleary and some of her staff members. They expressed sincerest gratitude to Jones and the donors for the initiative, saying that it will be used immediately and distributed throughout the wards.
