Men Charged for Possession of Firearm and Ammunition

On Saturday 14th January, 2023, during an operation, officers attached to the Rapid Response Unit intercepted a vehicle travelling along the Westerhall Public Road and conducted a search of that vehicle, which revealed one (1) Glock Pistol and two (2) rounds of ammunition.
As a result, two of the occupants of the vehicle, Alie Charles, 30 years old, Mechanic of La Taste St. Patrick and Ryan Cato, 22 years, Cashier residing at Boca, St. George, were arrested and charged for Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Ammunition.
Both men were also charged for Robbery with Violence in relation to an incident which transpired earlier that day at Chapel Road, Grenville, St. Andrew.
In a separate incident Alie Charles was charged for assaulting a 16 years old, male of Pomme Rose, St. David with a Deadly Instrument, to wit: a gun.
Charles and Cato were brought to St. David Magistrate’s Court, today and were each granted bail in the sum of twenty thousand dollars ($20,000.00) with two (2) sureties.
As part of their bail conditions, they are required to surrender all travel documents, and report to separate police stations every Monday and Thursday between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
The matters were adjourned to Wednesday 29th March, 2023.
Meanwhile, Ronald Rohan Audain, 20 years old, Unemployed of Prospect, St. Vincent was arrested and charged for the offences of Possession of an Illegal Firearm, Ammunition and Trafficking in a Controlled Drug.
The charges were laid against Mr. Audain following a search of his bag on January 10th 2023 at Hillsborough, Carriacou after he disembarked a vessel. Five (5) rounds of ammunition, one Glock 9mm Pistol and one pound of Cannabis was discovered.
Mr. Audain was taken to Gouyave Magistrate’s Court and was remanded in custody at His Majesty Prisons.
He is scheduled to make his next court appearance on Thursday 19th January, 2023 at Carriacou Magistrate’s Court.
