St. George’s, Grenada – August 14, 2019 – Minister for Tourism & Civil Aviation, Hon. Dr. Clarice Modeste-Curwen hosted a special appreciation dinner in celebration of the Grenada Chelsea Flower Show Team’s recent achievement. At this year’s Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Chelsea Flower Show, Team Grenada was awarded a 15thgold medal for their stunning exhibit “A Carnival of Exotic Tropical Blooms”. During the dinner on Tuesday August 6 at the Aquarium Restaurant, Minister Modeste-Curwen heard from the team’s lead designer Mrs. Catherine John that preparations for the show start from August of the previous year and it is a huge team effort by Grenadians both on island and in England.
This year’s award was even more successful as the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) visited Grenada in April to film “The Road to Chelsea”. The BBC were so impressed with the garden owners and their plants and spices that they aired a second short film specifically on the spices in Grenada. Both programmes were aired during BBC primetime slots. The global publicity for Pure Grenada, the Spice of the Caribbean was immeasurable.

CEO Patricia Maher and Marketing Executive for the UK Renee Moses represented the GTA. The team members receiving certificates of appreciation from the Minister were Mrs. Catherine John, Esther Henry-Fleary, Claire Campbell, John Criswick, Shirma Mitchell, Mark Radix, Hillary McNeilly, Dennis Noel, Cornelius Joseph and Roderick Charles.
