Police Investigate Apparent Homicide/Arson
About 11:40 p.m., on Thursday 11th May 2023, officers responded to a report of a house fire at Vendomme, St. George. On arrival, they observed a wooden structure, fully engulfed and flames. They also received information from persons on the scene. The Fire Crew extinguished the fire. That building, which was identified as the dwelling house of Jason Joseph, was completely destroyed. Two nearby houses were also observed to have minor damages, reportedly caused by individually set fires.
Detectives observed the motionless body of Jason Joseph laying in a drain, alongside the public road, away from his dwelling house. There were chop wounds to his head and hands and burn marks all over his body. He was pronounced dead by the medical practitioner.
A 69-year-old male of the same address, who also sustained chop wounds to his upper back, is currently hospitalized.
The suspect, Kevin Penny, 36 years old, unemployed, who lives close to where the body was found, was approached by police. He had chop wounds to his shoulder and leg. He resisted the police and his actions resulted in him being shot in the leg. He was taken to the General Hospital where he is now warded.
Investigations are actively ongoing in this matter. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of Mr. Joseph’s death.

Police Investigate Homicide at Concord
Upon receiving certain information, about 9:00 a.m. today (May 12th, 2023), police proceeded to the home of Lenny Ross, 59 years old Farmer, at Concord, St John. On arrival, they observed the motionless body of Mr. Lenny Ross, laying inside of his house. He had multiple chop wounds about his body.
He was pronounced dead, by the medical doctor.
One juvenile is currently in police custody, assisting with investigations into the death of Mr. Ross.
As procedure demands, a post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
