Retired Cop Wins Another Jackpot
Mirabeau Resident won Lotto in 2011 then Super 6 in 2017
ST. GEORGE’S – WEDNESDAY, 14TH JUNE, 2017 – Vallan Antoine, a retired Corporal of the Royal Grenada Police Force, has recently won the regional Super 6 Jackpot of EC$300,000 on May 12th, 2017 – a mere 6 years after winning the National Lotteries Authorities’ local Lotto Jackpot of EC$325,000 in March of 2011.
On Wednesday, June 14th, a media handover ceremony was conducted at the NLA’s Main Office on the Carenage to present the prize to Mr. Antoine.
Speaking at the prize-giving activity, the NLA’s Marketing Manager Ms. Reecè Sam described Mr. Antoine’s winning as a true testimony of the NLA’s slogan: ‘You’ve got to be in it, to win it’. Ms. Sam informed that Mr. Antoine is not new to winning. “Not only has he won a previous jackpot; Mr. Antoine held the record of the largest amount ever won in a single draw in the Daily Pick 3 game – a whopping EC$13,080.00 from October 2010 to April 2014.” This record was broken in April 2014 by Mr. Kenneth Mason of Hermitage St. Patrick’s with a winning of EC$22,000.
The NLA’s General Manager Mr. Geoffrey Gilbert handed over the prize-cheque to Mr. Antoine. Mr. Gilbert said it was a very special moment for the NLA. He noted the significance of the Super 6 Game, which provides invaluable support to the development of sports throughout the four Windward Islands. He thanked Mr. Antoine for playing the games of the National Lotteries Authority.
Mr. Antoine, who was mostly quiet during the handover, had this to say to players: “You’ve got to be in it to win it.” When asked about his plans for the prize, Mr. Antoine said that he had none as yet but that he and his wife will decide, as was done with his previous winning. In 2011, the couple had expressed their plans to donate to the homes. Daily Pick 3 continues to be Mr. Antoine’s favourite game; and he is known to bet a little more than the average person; therefore, whenever he wins, it is usually big. “But, this doesn’t change who I am, how I live, and I certainly wouldn’t stop playing, concluded Mr. Antoine.”
Prior to Mr. Antoine’s Super 6 winning, the following Grenadian players won Super 6 Jackpots as well: Mrs. Roslyn Burris of Café Beau Hill, St. George’s in September 2015 ($325,000 which was shared with a winner from St. Lucia); Mr. Lester Peters of Gouyave, St. John’s in December 2015 ($210,000); Ms. Cynthia Thomas of Rose Hill, St. Patrick’s in January 2016 ($225,000); and Anthony Morris of Morne Toute, St. George’s ($206,081).
The Super 6 game is played concurrently throughout the four (4) Windward Islands on Tuesdays and Fridays. It has a starting jackpot of $200,000. Players select 6 numbers from 01 to 28, and each bet costs $3.
