RGPF Traffic Dept. & Bank Team up for Road Traffic Safety
St. George’s, Grenada, September 2nd, 2020. The Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) continues to look after the safety and security of the country’s pedestrians and motorists, even with the increased demands on the force under pandemic conditions.
Inspector Randel Baptiste of the RGPF, attended the offices of CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank Ltd.to receive a donation of paint for road traffic markings recently. After the cheque handover he said, “the Commissioner of Police and the Traffic Department really want to thank the bank for their continued support. This is a time when seemingly small safety matters could be relegated to the back burner but the bank and the RGPF have remained firm in their commitment to seeing this project through. Traffic markings play a pivotal role in road safety,” he concluded.
The paint, to be used for road markings in the busy Melville Street area, initially came with the offer of physical assistance from bank team members, as a part of the banks Adopt-a-Cause programme. “Last year members of the bank’s team were able to physically join forces with the RGPF and work on refreshing the traffic markings together. As this is no longer a viable option, we are pleased that at least we have been able to follow through on our commitment and provide the materials, if not the manpower, required to complete the project,” said Country Manager Nigel Ollivierre, who took part in the painting exercise himself.
CIBC FirstCaribbean welcomes approaches from the local community, where their team members can partner to assist with improvement projects across the Tri -isle state. The public is invited to make recommendations of projects, which meet the banks criteria under the Adopt-a-Cause initiative.
