Sabrina Francis is Back on the Big Stage
The second edition of Sabrina Francis’ Wide Open concert takes place on Saturday, 28th of May 2022 at 7:30pm
The program of “Wide Open 2022” is a showcase of Sabrina Francis’ work during the last 3 years with her biggest hits like ”Mama Say” and “This is Home” but also new, not yet released songs as a special treat for the audience.
During the preparations for the Wide Open Concert in 2020 the Covid-19 pandemic hit in March and all performances were shut down. Within only 3 weeks Sabrina Francis and her team put together the live stream “Wide Open – six feet apart”. This was the start for even more live streams highly appreciated by an international audience. These streaming performances were set up as fundraisers and generated income for the local artistes who were left without any form of revenue due to the pandemic.
The next step in these challenging but also door opening times of the past 2 years was the creation of “Sabrina’s Treehouse Concerts”, an intimate VIP event in the mountains of St.David which allowed compliance with the Covid-19 protocol but also gave Sabrina Francis the opportunity to continue developing her art, performing and writing new songs. “Sabrina’s Treehouse Concerts”, taking place once a month, is currently one of the most popular event experiences in Grenada. As soon as traveling was possible however, Sabrina Francis and her band ventured on a tour in the UK, Germany and Switzerland in November 2021. This tour created unique memories and proved to be another step up in Sabrinas professionalism.
“Wide Open 2022” is the culmination of the most productive time for Sabrina Francis so far. She is very excited to share her new songs which were created this January in a collaboration with Mystro, a well-regarded Nigerian producer in New York. With this collaboration Sabrina Francis is exploring musically her African roots. “I think you can call it Afro-Caribbean pop, uplifting and meaningful, incorporating traditional with contemporary sounds. The whole journey is exhilarating”, says Sabrina Francis. Some of these songs will be performed for the first time at the “Wide Open 2022” concert.
It goes without saying that these fruitful explorations need more intense marketing. Therefore a collaboration with a PR agency in London was the logical step in planning the career of Sabrina Franics. The release of the song “Cocoa Tea” together with a music video are the first results of this collaboration. Within a very short period “Cocoa Tea” found its fans and has now close to 200,000 views on Youtube.
The preparations for “Wide Open 2022” are well under way. Sabrina Francis has her band lined up. It is Dieter Burkhalter on the keys, Keane Jules on bass, Alesia Aird on guitar, Shem Alexis on drums, and Laura-Lisa Richardson with Johnathan Francis as backing vocalists and on percussion. One Unit Dance Company has an appearance at the show as well as Hernel Panchoo & John Britton.
The show takes place in the magical ambience of Le Phare Bleu’s beach front. Door opening is at 6:30pm and the evening starts with Laura Lisa and band as supporting act at 7:30pm. Bar and catering is provided by the Tropical Tavern. Tickets are available at Grenada Optical (town and Spice Isle Mall) or online here https://www.eventbrite.com/e/289551876457
“Wide Open 2022” at Le Phare Bleu is the place to be on Saturday the 28th of May.
