Senator St. Clair to Ask 6 Questions in the Senate During the Budget Debate
13 December 2021, ST. GEORGE’S: On Monday 13 December 2021, during the debate on the Budget, Senator the Honourable Roderick St. Clair will be highlighting the challenges facing our fisherfolks, farmers and agro-processors, and whether the Budget brings support to overcome the challenges to improve their lives and the economy.
Senator St. Clair will pose six (6) questions for the Leader of Government’s Business, Senator the Honourable Simon Stiell.
The first question concerns the Praedial Larceny Fund: “Bearing in mind that the Praedial Larceny Act was established in 2005 to set up a fund and we are in 2021, based on the response provided, what has taken us so long in having this fund established?”
The second question concerns the requirement for every Ministry and Department to prepare workplans as is required by Division 4, Clause 16 (3) of the Public Finance Management Act Regulations of 2015.
The third question concerns the Scholarships awarded to Grenadians in the field of Agriculture and Fisheries and their related fields over the past ten (10) years at the Bachelor, Masters, PhD and Post-Doctoral levels.
The fourth question concerns Government’s action in providing relief to seamoss farmers and fishermen from sargassum seaweed.
The fifth question concerns Grenada’s status relative to the Nagoya Protocol on Access to
Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from their Utilisation.
The final question concerns the availability of Fishermen ID Cards.
Senator St. Clair has a motion on behalf of fisherfolk for a jetty to be constructed in St. Mark. A petition for a jetty to be constructed in St. Mark will be tabled.
