Spiceboyz Regrouping After Their Away Fixture Loss to El Salvador
The Spiceboyz are regrouping to ensure that they put out a winning performance in front of a home crowd on June 7, after their Concacaf Nations League A opener loss against El Salvador.
In the opener in El Salvador on Saturday June 4, the home team got on the board quickly in the 2nd minute with a strike from Nelson Bonilla which was quickly answered with a superb midrange goal from Grenada’s Alexander McQueen.
Bonilla again followed up with a goal in the 43rd minute and some technical bad luck saw Grenada’s AJ Patterson score an own goal in the 55th minute, ending the match 3-1 in El Salvador’s favour.
Alexander McQueen who was elated with his goal said, “We competed and fought hard, unfortunately conceded some avoidable goals. We are all looking forward to making the most of our home advantage & taking the game to them in Grenada.”
Following the match, Senior Men’s Head Coach Michael Findlay said, “We were disappointed to concede such an early goal. Even though we responded strongly we still lost our focus in a key moment prior to half time which cost us. We are all looking forward to our home match in front of our fans as we look to respond and get the three points we require.”
Grenada will play El Salvador at the Kirani James Athletics Stadium toady, Tuesday June 7,2022 at 7pm.
