Team Sandals Grenada on the Move
Pink Gin Beach, Grenada- November 19, 2018- The Sandals Task Force is a specially selected regional body of talent with the opportunity to work at another resort within the Sandals chain for a period of up to six months. At Sandals Grenada two Butlers, Marlon Alexander and Hassan Bartholomew and Room Attendant, Alldia Louison are the latest outstanding Sandals Grenada talents selected to join the Task Force and this time around they have been assigned to Sandals Royal Bahamian resort in Nassau.
This unique internal programme helps with transitioning new hires and gives fresh impetus to the existing team while providing a wealth of personal exposure and professional development to all participants. Thus far for 2018 Grenadian Task Force members have been relocated to Barbados, Antigua and the Bahamas. It also allows for the build-out of a fully integrated Caribbean team with knowledge sharing and best practices at its core.
“As a Caricom brand, we at Sandals recognize how critical it is to protect and develop our resources. This sharing of human capital helps to accelerate on the job learning and fortifies company service standards,” shared Stephanie Sylvester, Human Resource Manager of Sandals Grenada. According to Peter Fraser, General Manager of Sandals Grenada, the Sandals guest visiting any of the sixteen resorts, expects the same high standards across the board; “A Sandals visitor to Sandals Royal Bahamian could become a repeat visitor to the Caribbean, to Sandals Barbados or Grenada, with the same expectations of quality service and it is our duty to meet those expectations.”
He continued, “As an organisation we are committed to growth and development. It is part of our mission statement; we are committed to giving people the opportunity to realize their full potential. Working with Sandals Grenada means that you can work in any of the six islands with Sandals Resorts, and who knows what the future of the brand may be to go further afield. This means we need to have the right talent aboard.”
It is a remarkable opportunity for exposure, further development of their skillset and competency and invaluable life experiences. Sandals team members are eager to grasp this unique opportunity; “I am a firm believer that hard work brings success and when I go out there this is what I intend to showcase. On top of that like anyone else, I am looking forward to meeting new people and just having a different cultural experience,” asserted Marlon the Butler. Equally excited, Hassan shared, “This will be my first time in the Bahamas and I am looking forward to this new challenge.”
In a pre-travel team meeting with the trio to the Bahamas, Training & Development Manager, Sheena Williams did her best to ensure they were not only prepared but also inspired, “You are all stars, you simply have to do what stars do. Shine! Represent your brand which is you!”
This movement of talent is part in parcel with the operations of the Caribbean’s leading luxury resort brand and Sandals Grenada, though only having five years in operation, has produced top leaders; as of this year the former Food & Beverage Director- Charles Langard is now the Hotel Manager of Sandals Barbados, and former Housekeeping Manager- Merlinda Pierre is now the Director of Housekeeping of Sandals Royal Barbados and Sandals Barbados.
