Thousands Turn Out to Support Special Needs Despite Inclement Weather
Monday October 24, 2016 – Kingston, Jamaica: The Locate Caribbean running team braved the weather to support the annual Digicel 5K Imagine Run and joined thousands of other participants who converged on the streets of Downtown Kingston to run, walk and wheel for Special Needs communities over the weekend.
The Locate Caribbean team was led by Directors, Joe Carnegie and Aaron Labey, who lined up at the starting line ready to put down their best times and to enjoy the race along with a number of other companies and individuals who came out to support the event. Included in the race was Victoria Mutual Building Society (VMBS), sponsor for the Locate Caribbean team along with Trainfit Club, fitness partner to the Locate Caribbean team.
Thankfully, the rains were held at bay for the duration of the run and so the teams were able to enjoy the run, including the interactive fun run section which saw participants navigating exciting obstacle course littered throughout the race.
Locate Caribbean Director, Aaron Labey had this to say; “We were happy to see so many people in Jamaica supporting a worthy cause at the Digicel Imagine 5K run which no doubt supports the Special Community in a massive way. Locate Caribbean is grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such an event which encourages Jamaicans to do more in support of Special Needs – all of which would not have been possible without the tremendous support of the Victoria Mutual Building Society and Tranfit Club. We thoroughly enjoyed the run and look forward to being a part of it next year. ”
VMBS Business Development Manager; Richard Kidd, said; “We were so excited to support the Digicel Imagine 5K run and to do our part in helping thousands of Jamaicans with Special Needs get the help they deserve through the efforts of the Digicel Jamaica Foundation. We are also proud to support the Locate Caribbean team who are also passionate about supporting special needs and so it was an easy decision for us to lend our support.”
Trainfit Club Owner, Stokely Rose; “The Digicel 5K Imagine run was a perfect opportunity to support a worthy cause while encouraging a healthier lifestyle. Our longstanding partnership with Locate Caribbean has seen us do more in terms of supporting the needy in Jamaica and being part of the run side by side is something that we look forward to doing in the future.”
