Twenty-eight Grenadian Students to Benefit from Republic Bank’s Bursary Programme
St. George’s, Grenada; September 14, 2021: Attaining higher education can be elusive for many, but, through Republic Bank’s generosity, twenty eight (28) students will receive financial assistance as they pursue their academic dreams.
The successful candidates are enrolled in part-time studies at the University of the West Indies, Open Campus. Bursaries totalling $26,535.60 (Twenty Six Thousand, Five Hundred & Thirty Five Dollars & Sixty Cents) were awarded to assist the students with tuition expenses.
Commenting on the initiative, General Manager – Operations at Republic Bank, Clifford Bailey said: “Despitethe challenging times facing us, Republic Bank stands resolute in support of national development. We are committed to ensuring our citizens are given the opportunity to advance themselves, academically. This is made possible through our social investment vehicle, the Power to Make a Difference programme.”
In 2007, the Republic Bank Bursary was introduced to supplement the Scholarship programme, and has assisted close to 200 students to attain a first degree, while staying at home. The Scholarship is offered to assist one student at a time with full time studies at any of the three UWI Campuses in Barbados, Trinidad or Jamaica. The yearly spend for the programme is approximately $60,000.00.
