“A Celebration of Life!”
After having such a large turnout in 2020 with the virtual Spice Island Cultural Festival, the Spice Island Cultural Day Association of Quebec is going for it again this year. On Saturday, July 10, 2021, from 3 pm to 7 pm, the Organization is planning another fantastic virtual Festival to fill the void left by Covid-19 pandemic.
Marvelous chefs, spectacular fashions with well-known Grenadian Fashion Designers, top Grenadian artists, great music and wonderful pure Grenadian culture are promised at the 4th annual Spice Island Cultural Festival, with its theme “A Celebration of Life – Food-Fashion-Music-Culture”.
This year, taking center stage, will be the fashion industry of Grenada inspired by the various cultures of the Island. Six fashion designers will display their creations while shooting their fashion presentation, from ready-to-wear to couture, on location in Grenada, Montreal and Toronto.
For people who can stand the heat, we are serving up some spicy creations from five top Grenadian chefs cooking classics like Oil Down at home with YOU. Part of the Festival will reflect on the culture of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. With the drumming sensation of the Tivoli Drummers and Dancers, the Carriacou Culture Train String Band Group, New Dimension Steel Orchestra, folk dancers and singers, the diversity of the Island music will be at the forefront of the Festival. Folklore tales, a major part of a Caribbean upbringing, will also play an important role for the children enjoying the Festival. Legend Calypsonian, The Mighty Sparrow will be interviewed by the President of the Association, Byron Cameron, aka “Doggies”, Montreal’s legend Calypso Monarch. The Beast, King Scholar, Squeezy and Mexy D’Messenger, also Grenada’s calypso legends will join the festival, performing their greatest hits backed by The Royal Grenada Police Force Band. The Spice Island Cultural Festival now in its 4th year will indeed make you feel the rhythm of the Caribbean without leaving your living room. Join us ONLINE: Saturday, July 10, 3pm.
